The Book in Three Sentences: This is one of the rare books on the Reilly painting technique, and while the examples are dated, the information is totally solid. The book shows everything from making the value scale put under the glass palette to mix and align the painting values with, to the somewhat complex mixing process that helps the artist mix “all” the necessary colors to build the painting with prior to beginning it. The book is a very good “technical” manual for the Reilly technique, a controlled approach to completing a painting.
